With Iris, users perform fewer steps compared to traditional windshield repair bridges. The platform is securely attached to a car or truck windshield using a 9.5-centimeter suction cup, requiring only a single action: a twist of the handle. Once attached, Iris can be rotated to move the injector aside and select the magnifying glass to check for air in the resin, then rotated to the UV LED lamp to cure the resin. Because the three tool holders are replaceable, new functionalities can be added to the platform in the future.

Energy efficient

The built-in Iris LED UV lamp runs on a standard rechargeable 9-volt battery and is wireless, making windshield repair easier by significantly reducing the risk of damaging paint. It also allows the mechanic to work in any situation. In the rotating position, the lamp is always correctly aligned above the repair on the windshield, maintaining the proper distance relative to the beam angle of the seven LEDs.

Optimal curing

The wavelength and amount of UV radiation required by the Duobond UV resin and Impact filler were the basis for developing this UV LED lamp. The low wavelength and optimal power supply design on the circuit board prevent heat production. Heat negatively affects the refraction index and quality of the cured UV resin, making the repair more noticeable and reducing the shear strength, which increases the risk of glass tearing. Heat also shortens the lifespan of the circuit board. The built-in buzzer provides an audible warning when the LED UV lamp is on, sounding every ten seconds. When the optimal curing time is reached, the lamp switches off automatically and emits a repeated audible signal indicating it is ready. This minimizes energy use and saves time by notifying the mechanic at each step. A standard 9V, 300mAh NiMH battery can perform up to 60 curing cycles. When the battery voltage drops to 6V, the lamp stops working and can be recharged via the Duobond USB charger. The USB charger operates on standard 5V USB outputs and can charge the battery from 5.2V back to 9V.

Iris features a unique system that limits physical pressure on the crack. This prevents the glass from tearing during repair and ensures that the Duobond UV resin can fill the crack easily without being compressed. The package includes the Duobond IQ-r USB battery charger.
