Widia drill 1.2 mm short model (5 pcs.)
- 841900
When a crack in a windshield is insufficiently accessible for injection of UV resin, it may be necessary to make the crack targetedly accessible by drilling. For this, special glass widia drill bits with the recognizable rounded head are used.
These drill bits are designed so that the diameter of the rounded end is smaller than the thickness of the outer glass pane of a laminated windshield. This reduces the risk of drilling too deep and damaging the PVB layer with damage that is irreparable and makes the windshield unsuitable for repair.
Safe working method
- Drill at low speed and with light pressure
- Stop drilling regularly to check the depth
- Use a scraper blade to feel whether the rounded end has just disappeared below the glass surface
- As soon as the rounded tip is no longer detectable, stop drilling immediately
By using this controlled method, the drilling process remains safe and precise, while the crack becomes sufficiently accessible for the UV resin to flow fully into all fine branches of the crack.
Benefits
- Increases the accessibility of difficult cracks
- Minimizes the risk of damage to the PVB layer
- Allows complete resin filling
- Supports a durable and technically correct repair
