Cleans and increases cohesion

Duobond Prep-Clean is an essential preparatory product within the Duobond windshield repair system. The product is applied before injecting Duobond UV resin and is developed to structurally improve the repair quality, both technically and visually.

Duobond Prep-Clean thoroughly cleans the break and removes contamination that could negatively affect the adhesion of the resin. Additionally, the product has two important supplementary functions.

Due to its high vapor pressure, Prep-Clean encapsulates any moisture residues in the break and allows them to evaporate, resulting in a dry break. This leads to significantly better adhesion between the glass, PVB layer, and UV resin.

A second important advantage is the visual inspection of the accessibility of the break. When Duobond Prep-Clean is applied correctly, it becomes clearly visible whether the break is fully accessible for the UV resin. In a well-accessible break, the trapped air temporarily disappears, which is visible as the disappearance of black lines or dots. This gives the technician confidence that the UV resin can later fill all the fine branches of the break, preventing air inclusion and making the repair less visible. This also partly determines whether or not you will drill or tap open the break.

Duobond Prep-Clean use:

1. Apply a few drops of Duobond Prep-Clean onto a clean, dry piece of white polishing paper.
2. Press this paper with Duobond Prep-Clean directly onto the break.
3. Observe the behavior of the air in the break through the mirror on the inside of the glass. Using a flashlight significantly facilitates this inspection.

By applying Duobond Prep-Clean, you lay the proper foundation for a fully filled, strongly adhered, and durably cured repair.
